Advantages of Medicare Advantage plans

that you don’t get from Original Medicare in Pennsylvania.

Why Medicare Advantage?

During Medicare enrollment, from October 15 to December 7, it’s important to know what you’re buying. A question Medicare customers frequently ask is “What does Medicare Advantage give me that I don’t already get from my Original Medicare?” The answer is, surprisingly, quite a lot!

Original Medicare comes to you directly from the government, and includes Part A (hospital coverage) and Part B (medical coverage). While you typically don’t pay a separate premium for Part A, you do pay a monthly premium for Part B, which may be deducted automatically from your Social Security benefits.

Benefits of Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage is an alternative to Original Medicare and is also known as Part C coverage. It's usually offered privately through major health insurance companies, like Capital Blue Cross’ BlueJourney plans. They cover everything Part A and Part B cover, with or without hospice care, and usually much more.

So what do you get?

  • Hospital coverage (Part A)
  • Medical coverage (Part B)
  • Prescription coverage (Part D)
  • Vision benefits
  • Dental benefits
  • And more perks to help you live healthy

While that sounds like a lot of coverage, Medicare Advantage plans are usually low- or no-cost! The best way to see if Medicare Advantage is right for you is to compare plans and get a quote.
