Capital BlueCross, Rodale Inc. invite community to spring into better health with free event at Capital Blue store March 16

HARRISBURG, Pa. (March 13, 2013) – Capital BlueCross and Rodale are helping the community spring to better health by hosting a fun-filled day of healthy activities at the new Capital Blue store from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 16. Located at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley, Capital Blue is a health and wellness retail store focused on customer choice and healthy living, and is designed to provide one-stop shopping to explore insurance options and discover fun ways to engage in good health.

"The change of seasons brings better weather, more sunshine and a nice opportunity for all of us to get active and commit to a healthier lifestyle,” said Tom Peluso, director of Capital Blue. “We invite the community to start here at Capital Blue, their healthy place."

Throughout the day guests can sample various free healthy foods and smoothies available at the Rodale café at Capital Blue, which is permanently located inside the store. During the store’s regular business operating hours (Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.) visitors can purchase breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack items at Rodale café at Capital Blue. Anyone looking for a healthy alternative to fast food can count on a menu that features organic, low-fat and natural foods such as a California turkey wrap, French lentil salad or a mint shamrock smoothie.

"We want people to look at the Rodale Café at Capital Blue as a nice, healthy option for jump starting the day with a balanced breakfast, refueling at lunchtime, or getting a nutritionally light meal to go after work,” said Leah Nichols, director of Culinary Brand Development & Services at Rodale, Inc. “We are looking forward to introducing our spring menu on March 16 for everyone to sample and enjoy."

Other free activities during the day will feature massages, health screenings, a yoga demonstration, information on the Children’s Health Insurance Program, hourly prize raffles, and tours of the new Capital Blue store. Kids can look forward to face painting, fun tattoos, a seed planting activity, organic bubble blowing, and playing Wii Fit in the store Kids Zone.
