Free screenings for oral cancer just one of a number of Dental health activities slated for the Capital Blue store
Capital BlueCross draws attention to National Children’s Dental Health Month
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2013) – Capital BlueCross is providing free oral cancer screenings and dental health education at the Capital Blue store at the Promenade Shops in Saucon Valley on Feb. 18. The activities are in support of February being National Children’s Dental Health Month.
Licensed dentists will perform quick screenings, and visitors can also tour the Miles of Smiles mobile dental clinic that will be on display outside of Capital Blue. Capital BlueCross partners with the Lehigh Valley Health Network to bring Miles of Smiles to children in the Allentown area to help fight tooth decay.
The team of dentists will be available to discuss dental health throughout the day. Additionally, there will be interactive children’s programs held at the Capital Blue Kids Zone play area, focusing on the correlation between calcium and strong teeth. All activities will begin at 10 a.m. and run through 3 p.m.
“We invite the public to come and take advantage of this free day of learning about dental health,” said Jenn Natalie, Capital Blue assistant director. “It is vital for children to get in the habit of brushing twice a day and to understand how important it is to take good care of their teeth. By preventing tooth decay and gum disease early in life, children can look forward to a lifetime of strong teeth and better overall health.”
