HARRISBURG, Pa. (April 22, 2014) – Dr. Jennifer Chambers, Capital BlueCross senior vice president & chief medical officer, has been selected to receive a 2014 Women of Influence Award from the Central Penn Business Journal. The Women of Influence Award program recognizes 25 women in the midstate annually who are renowned for their record of accomplishments and dynamic leadership in their company, industry and community.

Dr. Chambers provides clinical leadership for the company’s Quality Management and Care Management departments, as well as the Medical Policy team.  As a caring, patient-focused medical professional, Dr. Chambers is a role model for the entire clinical staff when it comes to her skills in hospital medicine, patient safety and quality, and hospice and palliative medicine.

“Dr. Chambers’ medical expertise and clinical leadership is a major reason why Capital BlueCross is an industry leader when it comes to improving the health of the region through clinical programs and strong relationships with physician and facility providers,” said Gary D. St. Hilaire, Capital BlueCross president & CEO. ”We are very fortunate to have her leading these efforts, and we are extremely proud that she has been selected for the Women of Influence honor.”

In addition to her contributions at Capital BlueCross, Dr. Chambers provides community leadership in the area of intellectual disability, serving as a board member for Keystone Human Services and board chair of Keystone Autism Services, located in Harrisburg. She is also a member of the Harrisburg Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Council, and served on a governor’s task force for quality and end of life care in Pennsylvania, drafting a key chapter on pain management and education.
