Capital BlueCross adds new medical directors,
Medicare operational director
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 26, 2015) – Capital BlueCross today announced thatDr. Vallee Adams and Dr. Jonathan Tocks have joined its medical team as medical directors.
Prior to arriving at Capital BlueCross, Dr. Adams was a physician advisor at Executive Health Resources, a company that contracts with hospitals to help determine the appropriate place of service for patients. She also worked as a staff physician at Washington Hospital Center and Methodist hospitals.
Dr. Adams’ experience includes adverse event review, compliance-related reviews, and consulting for the Drug Safety Department at Abbott Laboratories.
She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and received her medical training at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Prior to working at Capital BlueCross, Dr. Tocks retired from a 37-year clinical practice career in central Pennsylvania, after founding Cumberland Family Practice. Early in his medical career, Dr. Tocks served as a clinical instructor in family medicine residency at Harrisburg Hospital. His experience includes medical malpractice case review and expert witness testimony.
Dr. Tocks is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Medical School. He did his residency training at Harrisburg Hospital.
Capital BlueCross also announced Dr. Genevieve Regal as the company’s new director of Medicare Pharmacy Operations.
Dr. Regal’s previous work includes serving as regional director of Clinical Accounts at Benecard Prescription Benefit Facilitator, long term care Pharmacist at Millennium Pharmacy System with a focus in USP 797 compliance and IV admixture sterility, pharmacy assistant manager at a Wal-Mart pharmacy, and hospital pharmacy supervisor at Gettysburg Hospital.
Dr. Regal has extensive experience with Medicare Part D and has testified before Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as Coverage Determination Audit Lead during multiple CMS audits. Regal also has experience in areas of Part D compliance guidelines, Medicare program audits, and building software systems to support Medicare coverage determinations.
Dr. Regal earned a Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and is currently in graduate school at George Washington University where she is pursuing a MBA focused in health care. In addition, Dr. Regal has received an APhA certification for Medication Therapy Management from Duquesne University.
