Change Healthcare Product Enhancement Helps Capital BlueCross Customers Find the Right Healthcare Provider for the Right Price

Brentwood, Tenn. (May 6, 2015) – Capital BlueCross customers have greater access to healthcare provider information thanks to an expanded partnership with Change Healthcare, a market leader in healthcare consumer engagement and cost and quality transparency.

The partnership allows Capital BlueCross to leverage the advanced and expanding functionality of the Change Healthcare Engagement Platform, including a tailored search-by-provider feature with enhanced provider reviews. The addition of this functionality, developed in response to market demand, supports and enhances Change Healthcare’s ability to meet the needs of Capital BlueCross customers, whether they are accessing the platform through Change Healthcare’s core application or an application programming interface (API).

As part of its ongoing effort to enable healthcare consumerism for its customers, Capital BlueCross plans to implement search by provider through Change Healthcare this fall. The organization already offers its members several Change Healthcare consumer engagement solutions, including Cost Lookup, which enables individuals to search for a prescription, medical, dental or vision service and determine the price they would pay at a specific provider, based on their individual plan, network and location; Ways to Save Alerts, email and text alerts that notify users of opportunities to save on their most common and recurring medical, dental and prescription purchases; and Healthcare University, an interactive and engaging education program that utilizes videos, quizzes, interactive games and gamification to teach users the basics of health insurance and how to shop for high-quality, cost-effective care.
