Capital BlueCross to Provide Free Glucose Screenings
on World Diabetes Day, Nov. 14
Events will also feature free body mass index screenings
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Nov. 5, 2015) – Capital BlueCross announced today it will provide free glucose screenings at its Capital Blue health and wellness stores on Nov. 14, World Diabetes Day. The screenings, available to everyone, will be held during events from 10 a.m. to noon at the Capital Blue store at the Hampden Marketplace in Enola and at the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley in Center Valley.
“Diabetes is a growing health risk,” said Dr. Jennifer Chambers, Capital BlueCross senior vice president and chief medical officer. “As more than just a health insurer, Capital BlueCross wants to help people in our community understand diabetes and receive proper care. Early detection and prompt treatment is key to managing this disease and preventing complications.”
The Capital Blue store events also will feature healthy recipe samples focusing on low carb and low sugar options, and free body mass index screenings.
Additionally, Capital BlueCross is partnering with Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg and the Hispanic Center Lehigh Valley in Bethlehem to offer free diabetes awareness events. The events will include free diabetes screenings and information on other important health topics.
