Preventive Health Care
Preventive health care is an important benefit of many of our benefit plans because it is the foundation of our early detection and treatment philosophy. Below you will find preventive health care guidelines as well as our standard preventive health care benefits schedule.
Preventive Health Guidelines
Capital BlueCross' Preventive Health Care Guidelines give members and physicians an idea of what the medical community suggests are the best scientific recommendations for obtaining optimum preventive health care. These guidelines were adapted from the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force, National Institutes of Health, the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices, the Centers for Disease Control, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Changes to the childhood and adult immunization schedule may have occurred. For the latest immunization recommendations, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Your Preventive Benefits
Capital BlueCross maintains its own preventive health care list of covered benefits. We frequently assess national standards to assure that we are in line with the medical community. However, not all products in which members are enrolled cover all of the preventive health care services described above. Your specific coverage for these preventive health care services depends on the terms of your benefit plan and coverage choices made by your employer. For your specific schedule of preventive health care benefits, please check your Capital BlueCross Certificate of Coverage.
