Deb Cohen of Capital BlueCross receives award for community service from CONTACT Helpline

HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 30, 2014) – Capital BlueCross Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Deb Cohen recently received the first-ever Community CONTACT Award given to an individual who works to build a better world. The award was presented to Cohen during CONTACT Helpline’s annual gala event.

“There are some individuals who, like CONTACT, go out of their way to make connections, find out what needs exist, and do whatever they can to create a positive impact in the world around them,” said CONTACT Helpline Executive Director Kelly Gollick. “When thinking about who best embodies this, it did not take us longer than a minute to bring up our award recipient -- Deb Cohen.”

In addition to Cohen’s long-standing commitment to improving the health of the region through Capital BlueCross, she has served the community in several other capacities. She has held leadership positions and worked tirelessly to advocate for regional organizations such as Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Cultural Enrichment Fund and Penn State Harrisburg’s Masters of Health Administration Leadership Council. She has also served as a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Leadership class and received both the YWCA Woman of Excellence Award and the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award.

CONTACT Helpline provides free, confidential referral assistance to Pennsylvania residents seeking help for health and medical problems, family problems, substance abuse and mental health issues, and housing.
