The clinical management of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Program (MH/SA) services are managed through Magellan Healthcare, Inc., the nation’s largest managed behavioral health organization.
Magellan will be performing medical management services including preauthorization, concurrent review, discharge planning, aftercare monitoring, as well as case management services for members eligible for PA Act 150 coverage. Our MH/SA program provides medical management services for members by specialized clinicians who have access to readily available experts and clinical supports on a 24-hour/7 day a week basis.
Preauthorization is required for inpatient mental health and substance abuse services, and for partial hospitalization for mental health and substance abuse services. Requests for these services can be made by calling toll-free 866.322.1657.
Outpatient services do not require preauthorization. Members covered by the Point of Service (POS) product may obtain a referral for behavioral health services through their primary care provider or by calling Magellan.
