SmileDirectClub Update
On December 8, 2023, SmileDirectClub filed for bankruptcy and shut down its operations, effective immediately.
Capital Blue Cross Dental members with orthodontia benefits included in their PPO plans were eligible for in-network coverage of SmileDirectClub remote orthodontic care. All Capital Blue Cross Dental members had access to discounted services directly from SmileDirectClub.
Capital Blue Cross is working to understand the impact on members who were SmileDirectClub patients and customers, and how to best serve them. In the meantime, please see this FAQ from SmileDirectClub.
